This race was founded by Lazarus Lake, the visionary mind behind the Barkley Marathons & Big Dogs Backyard Ultra, known for its extreme challenges. In 2012, Lake introduced the Backyard Ultra format, in which participants complete a 6.71 kilometer loop every hour, with the last runner standing declared the winner.

This race format has become legendary in the ultra running community, for embodying the spirit of endurance and pushing the limits. Now you can live this experience yourself.
